Mullet (poddy)

Family:Mullet
Description:Poddy Mullet make great live bait for many species such as Flathead and Mulloway. They can be trapped or taken using bait.
Qualities:
Size:
Size Limit:Under 15cm
Record:
Bag Limit:20 (live)
Habitats:Sand flats and weed beds in rivers and estauries
Tackle:To catch Poddy Mullet probably one of the fastest ways is with a bit trap. These traps are often clear plastic containers with small hole in the top and some weight to hold it down. In some states of Australia you can use a cast net. You can also catch them on small hooks and fine line. A fly rod can be useful for this with some bread flies.
Hints:To catch Poddy Mullet on hooks, burley the water with crused up bread and use a small piece of bread or a bread fly. To use a bait trap place it somewhere where you know the mullet so it's covered by about 6 inches of water.
Baits:Bread.
