Victoria for a small state can offer some terrific fishing. Trout fishing in the mountains can be awesome and all around Victoria`s coastline can offer some fantastic land based spots. The town of Barwon Heads is located on the west of the Barwon River on the south side of the Bellarine Peninsula to the South East of Geelong. The Barwon river estuary system is collectively known as the Lake Connewarre State Game Reserve. It consists of a narrow entrance to the sea, with minimal siltation, a broad-water extending about 2.5 kilometres upstream from the bridge. From there it has a long winding section of another four to five kilometres up to Lake Connewarre. The area offers many fishing opportunties from both the beachs and in the estuary system. Ocean Grove Beach - Ocean Grove Beach appears to many a passer as just another shallow, featureless beach that wouldn't attract any of the larger fish species.Barwon Heads Jetty - Barwon Heads Jettys is downstream of the bridge that crosses the Barwon River.
